Dr. Ming H
ProScan MSK Fellow

I did a one year long MRI fellowship at. After that I stayed at Proscan to work as an attending physician since late 2006. The training was excellent. The case volume and diversivisity is high. The trainee will be very skillful in interpreting almost all MRI cases especially musculoskeletal and neuro MRI. There are also a great amount of body, cardiac, prostate and breast MRI cases. The training can be tailored to the needs of each fellow. The cases are from hospitals and outpatient imaging centers. A few are even from overseas. Not only the patient population is diversified, the studies may be acquired with scanners from 0.3 to 3 Tesla.

The best part is that the working environment at Proscan is very friendly. All the staff are supportive and efficient. Remote and in person case discussion and second opinion is very welcoming. The work hours can be flexible as long as productivity stays stable. Cincinnati is a great town to live in. The cost of living is on the lower side. It is one of the oldest cities with great history. Music, art and sport events can be found all around the year.

Dr. Stephen Currin
ProScan MSK Fellow

I completed my MSK MRI fellowship with Proscan under the world renowned Dr Stephen Pomeranz in February 2020. Heading into the fellowship, my experience and proficiency with MSK MRI was limited. I was after a high volume world class MSK MRI fellowship to help complement my previous Body fellowship and increase my confidence, speed and accuracy of reporting in this area. The Proscan fellowship far exceeded all of my expectations and in less than 6 months I had increased my reporting speed from 6 MRI’s in a morning to 50 MRI’s in a morning, all double read in detail that afternoon by Dr Pomeranz or one of his equally expert colleagues. The sheer volume of studies with complex findings and pathology is invaluable in helping construct a massive mental library for pattern recognition and experience that will stay with you for the rest of your career as an expert MSK radiologist second to none.

Since completing my Body fellowship in Canada and MSK fellowship with Proscan, I have returned to Australia to work for IMED, one of the worlds largest private imaging providers. My current workload is interesting and varied, with a strong focus on Body and MSK MRI with MSK intervention. The Proscan fellowship has provided me with the confidence, knowledge and skill set to be a local leader in MSK imaging for our region. The proscan fellowship was an all round incredible experience and one I highly recommend.

Dr. Han Aw Yeang
ProScan MSK Fellow

The MSK Fellowship in the US has been the best 6 months of my radiology career. The outstanding aspect of this fellowship is the one to one daily case readouts with Dr Pomeranz, where he generously and patiently imparts his huge wealth of knowledge and experience. He is not averse to answering some of my rudimentary and sometimes vacuous questions, usually interjected with some humor!

Dr Pomeranz also has a huge wealth of experience in MRI imaging of all body parts, and in respect of MSK imaging is able to explain the biomechanics of trauma from his close cooperation with the local sports teams (one of the sites in actually in the city’s football stadium).

I started from a basic level of MSK MR and after returning to Australia after 6 months I was able to practice as the MSK lead in my group of consultants. Whenever I report I can hear Dr Pomeranz’s voice in my head guiding me through it with his succinct but useful advice. And the most used advice is, always answer the question in the request form.

Besides being proficient in MSK MR in all body parts, I also learnt MR Prostate from the beginning with no previous experience. And since I have been back I have been asked for many second opinions in this area, even from other colleagues from the other end of the country.

The fellowship was intense and involved many late evenings, but it was clearly worth it. After all, you only gain what you put in and I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. But the experience was not just in radiology, I also learnt a lot about private practice, running a business and also a great deal about life in general. Dr Pomeranz is a great mentor and is happy to share his experience on life, sports and politics if you are interested.

I also enjoyed living in Cincinnati which is a very liveable and affordable city with an abundance of culture, indoor and outdoor activities.

I am now the Campus Director of my radiology group. In the near future, the group will be commencing local MSK fellowships with places filled for the next 12 months.
